At 70, Miryam stands tall along the Amazon's banks, a Tikuna tribe member deeply attuned to nature's rhythms. Each dawn, she emerges, machete in hand, ready for her daily journey.
For over 7 years, Miryam has been her family's sole provider. Her husband's illness confines him indoors, leaving her to shoulder their livelihood alone. Undeterred, she embarks on her daily trek – a two-kilometer walk through dense foliage.Â
Â
With every step, she carries her people's dreams, her spirit undiminished by time. Her weathered hands nurture life from the soil, imparting wisdom on stewardship.
Â
Through our foundation's support, Miryam's efforts have blossomed. With tools, formulated strategy & increased resources, she's achieved more than ever – expanding her farm, diversifying crops, and implementing sustainable practices.
Â
No longer alone, Miryam can always count on her ally, our NGO, safeguarding their land, future of the family and heritage. As we survey her flourishing fields, we know her dedication has preserved the Amazon for generations.
Â
Today, Miryam stands as a beacon of hope, embodying resilience in adversity. Her love for the land and her unwavering commitment inspire us to strive for a future where the Amazon thrives in harmony with nature.
Severe drought and raging forest fires ravaged the region, destroying vital crops and leaving the schoolchildren hungry and without sustenance.Â
Natalias, a dedicated farmer of the Sateré Mawé ethnic group, found himself grappling with despair as he witnessed the collapse of his livelihood and the plight of the children he cared for.
Â
Natalias suffered the loss of 70% of his fruit tree crops, which supplied the school in his village, plunging the brave farmer into despair and discouragement and leaving the children without school, because many of them walk several kilometers or cross from the river to study, that is the only meal they had during the day, so they were forced to suspend school classes until they found a solution to the problem of lack of food for the students.
Amidst the ashes of destruction, our NGO team arrived, offering a glimmer of hope. Recognizing the urgency, we mobilized to support Natalias and his community. Together, we formulated a plan to reclaim the land and rebuild their livelihoods.
Â
With determination and resilience, Natalias and his family joined forces with us to replant over 1,000 trees, symbolizing a new beginning amidst adversity. This act aimed not only to restore the land but also to safeguard the future of the Amazon and its inhabitants.
Â
The promise to reforestation not only mitigated climate change but also aided in recovering lost biodiversity and promoting ecosystem restoration destroyed by the forest fires. Natalias's transformation into a symbol of resilience and hope serves as an inspiration, reminding us that even in the midst of desolation, the Amazon can be reborn.
“Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy;Â
the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come."Â
Isaiah 60:5 (NIV)
She believed in a time when their commitment to the land would attract support from afar.Â
Her faith echoes in his heart as he witnesses the fulfillment of her prophecy through our NGO's arrival.Â
Â
At 74 years old, Don Ricardo, a devoted father and member of the Tikuna Ethnicity, rises with the sun each day to tend to his land in the Colombian Amazon. Despite a lifetime of solitary work, his passion for preserving his home drives him to join our reforestation efforts.
Â
Initially skeptical of collaboration, Don Ricardo's commitment to his mission quickly becomes evident. Through our partnership, he learns the power of unity and the efficiency of working towards a common goal. Together, we discover the true meaning of dedication and perseverance.
Â
With increased resources, manpower, and strategic planning, Don Ricardo's reforestation efforts double in productivity and joy. What was once a solitary endeavor becomes a communal triumph, as he works alongside our team to safeguard their beloved Amazon.
Â
As he gazes upon the flourishing trees, Don Ricardo feels a swell of pride knowing that his daughter's words have come true. Through their unwavering commitment, they have attracted support from distant lands, fulfilling the promise of Isaiah 60:5.
Â
Today, Don Ricardo stands as a beacon of hope, a testament to the transformative power of collaboration and perseverance. His daughter's faith, coupled with their shared dedication, has brought blessings beyond measure to their corner of the Colombian Amazon.
Along with his wife Irma, Aless dream of providing their 3 children with the best opportunities, aspiring for them to become the first graduates from their community.
However, their aspirations were met with adversity when the forest fires ravaged their crops, destroying 80% of their crops in a single day. 7 months of toil vanished, replaced by hunger, resentment, and uncertainty about the future. It was amidst this despair that Alessander reached out to our NGO.
Â
Recognizing the urgent need for assistance, we forged a partnership with Alessander, pooling our resources, manpower, and strategic expertise. Together, we devised a plan to reverse their misfortune and arranging for new planting.
Â
As we stand side by side with Alessander, he reflects on the transformative impact. He speaks with enthusiasm about the arrival of the Amazon2030.org Foundation in his Aldea, describing it as nothing short of a miracle. Never before had anyone extended a helping hand to support and encourage cultivation in their community.
Â
Guided by his father's teachings of love for the forest and conservation, Alessander imparts these values to his children, instilling in them a deep sense of responsibility for their environment.
Â
Together with his family, Alessander serves as an inspiration to all who have the privilege of knowing them. Their humility, and determination have empowered them to confront numerous obstacles with courage and resilience.
Â
Families like Alessander's propel us forward, reminding us of the imperative to continue working towards a better future for the Amazon and the world.

Our journey with the indigenous grandparents, known affectionately as 'los abuelos,' living in aldea the Brazilian Amazon rainforest, has been nothing short of inspiring. These Tikuna grandparents, part of the largest tribe in the region, have lived their lives with a deep respect for hard work, nature, and the well-being of their grandchildren and community.
When we first arrived at their village, after a grueling 52-hour journey, we were greeted with warmth by this wonderful Tikuna family. Despite being in their 70s, they rose at 4am each day, committed to working on their chagra, or field, ensuring they had enough food for themselves and their family. Living in a humble wooden cabin, alongside their daughter with special needs and their four grandchildren (9, 6, 3 & 1 year old), they embraced a simple yet meaningful existence.
Â
However, like many other communities, los abuelos and their village faced a significant challenge - the loss of their cultural identity and a disconnection from their ancestral ways of life. Just two generations ago, they lived as indigenous people, hunting, fishing, and building their homes, and mud utensils. But as the Internet reached their village, the allure of modern civilization began to erode their traditional practices. Ultra-processed foods flooded in, and their connection to the land and the desire for reforestation and cultivation began to fade.
Â
This year, los abuelos experienced a summer like no other. As the Amazon faced its hottest summer in 37 years, the rising temperatures took a toll on their crops, threatening their staple food, Fariña. Despite this setback, they remained determined to continue cultivating but suffered respiratory issues, drought & shortage of drinking water.Â
Â
Moved by their resilience and determination, we embarked on a mission to support los abuelos and the community through reforestation of the Amazon. Through an Agroforestry system, we are working to plant a variety of food crops that are more resilient to climate change. This not only helps to preserve the Amazon, but also provides food security for los abuelos, their grandchildren, and the community.
Â
The Tikuna people, scattered across Brazil, Peru, and Colombia, represent one of the largest indigenous populations alive. Yet, many of their younger generations have lost touch with their cultural heritage. It is for this reason that we specifically chose to work with los abuelos. By inspiring and motivating them to think about the future, we hope to revive their cultural practices and protect their vulnerable family members, including los abuelos' daughter with special needs.
Â
Through this project, we aim to connect with other indigenous communities, spreading the seeds of reforestation and food security throughout the Amazon. Despite arriving in their village without knowing their language, we were welcomed into their home with open arms. This profound experience will forever remain in our hearts, as we continue to support los abuelos and the Tikuna people.
Â
Together, we can create a future where cultural heritage is celebrated, nature is respected, and communities thrive in harmony with the Earth. Our journey with los abuelos has taught us that with determination, resilience, and a deep love for our shared home, we can transform lives, one person and one community at a time. This is the legacy we hope to leave behind - a legacy of unity, restoration, and hope for future generations in the Amazon and beyond.
